Georgia State Senator Michael Williams

Senator Michael Williams, a Republican, was elected to the Senate in 2014.  He represents District 27 which includes Forsyth County.

Sen. Williams is Secretary of the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee, Chair of the Appropriations Sub-Committee on Fiscal Management and General Government.  He also serves on the Appropriations, Ethics, Finance and Public Safety Committees.

Senator Williams is a CPA with a strong business background. He Received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Montevallo in 1999.  His professional career began with Arthur Anderson.  In the years since he  has owned and operated a chain of 18 successful franchise businesses that he sold in 2013.

In 2014 Michael Williams challenged a long-time establishment incumbent for the Georgia State Senate.  Winning the election in 2015 in a landslide with 66% of the vote, Senator Williams’ campaign was largely self-finances.

In September 2015, Michael Williams became the first Georgia elected official to endorse Donald Trump for President

Now a Republican candidate for Georgia Governor in the 2018 election,  once again his campaign is mostly self-funded with the support of small-dollar donors across the state.

Senator Williams is actively involved in his community. His affiliations include membership in Lanier Forsyth Rotary Club, Cumming/Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, Forsyth County GOP, the Lake Lanier Association, the Forsyth County Tea Party, Georgia Carry, NRA and Georgia Gun Owners.

He and his wife, Virginia, have four children and are active in their place of worship, where he has served as a Sunday School Teacher.
