County State Watch – Monday April 9, 2018 – Tricia Pridemore – PSC Candidate and JoAnn Birrell – Cobb Co Commission Incumbent Candidate

Tricia Pridemore of Marietta, Ga., is seeking the District 5 seat on the Public Service Commission, which stretches from the western and southern counties of metro Atlanta – including Cobb, Paulding, Douglas, Fayette and Henry counties – south to Harris County in suburban Columbus, Ga.

A businesswoman and entrepreneur, Pridemore served in state government earlier this decade as executive director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development. She is a graduate of Kennesaw State University.


JoAnn Birrell seeks reelection. Cobb County District Three Commissioner JoAnn Birrell took her oath of office for her second term with the assistance of her husband, Dave, and Senior Judge Conley Ingram and Superior Court Judge Lark Ingram, on Jan. 6, 2015.

Birrell, a 22-year resident of the county, has previously served in numerous community organizations including as past chair of Keep Cobb Beautiful and the Neighborhood Safety Commission.  During her first term, Birrell initiated the Keep it in Cobb Program and established the Canton Road Redevelopment Committee. She also worked with staff to amend the purchasing ordinance to include a local vendor presence clause and launch the How to do Business with Cobb seminars where business owners can learn how to become a vendor with the County and meet County representatives that make purchasing decisions.
